“Louise’s debut is a multigenerational, character-driven slice-of-life story, centered on the Kristoff family, in search of love and success in the changing face of 20th century America while struggling to overcome poverty, heartbreak, childhood trauma, and a brace of dark secrets.”

“Hints of family secrets add mystery, such as involvement with the Mafia, or why the Kristoff siblings were removed from their home by social workers in childhood, and the milieus of Russian immigrants, the opera world, Santa Monica’s Muscle Beach, Milan, and more are all evoked with precision and heart.”

Takeaway: “Century-spanning tale of a family struggling to overcome heartbreak and trauma.”

5-Star Review by Bernadette Longu for Readers’ Favorite -

“Love Laugh and Row by Trisa J. Louise is about a family who flees from Russia in 1906, away from the Czar and his henchmen who killed innocent demonstrators in 1905. The author takes one family on a journey to America where they hope to create a new life. The family comprises Aleksander and Greta Kristoff, the parents, with their children George and Filippa. In America, they have Bepa, David, Eric, Boris-Julian, and the youngest Anna. This family takes life by the horns and doesn’t let go, no matter what life throws at them.

Trisa J. Louise has used the story of this family to show the reader that no matter what happens in life or how life always seems to be better for other people but not you, and how you seem to be struggling just to keep your head above water, there is always a way to survive and come out on top – you just have to have the determination and drive to overcome adversity. The author also makes use of her minor characters that waltz in and out of this family’s life, helping them to overcome in both good and bad times. The author catches the reader’s attention from the opening paragraph to the very last page of the book and holds the reader spellbound. Trisa uses her characters to her best advantage to keep the reader interested, and a most unusual twist in the tale at the end will have the reader elated. This book is well worth more than one read and should have pride of place on anyone’s bookshelf. Thank you for an exciting, very inspirational, and interesting read, Trisa. I really enjoyed it.”

Indies Today Review -

“The years pass quickly while the world is changing just as swiftly. The death of a president, a country embroiled in one war after another, and societal mores are just a few of the external pressures. Love Laugh and Row is an expansive drama that celebrates the powerful connectedness shared by one resilient family.”
